The Register of Deeds office is one of the most valuable information resources in the County, providing information to lawyers, realtors, surveyors, appraisers, lending institutions and the general public from records dating back to the early 1700's. This office also receipts, records, indexes and stores all records, and is responsible for all monies collected on every transaction pertaining to each parcel of property and all encumbered personal property either owned, sold or mortgaged in Blount County.

Approximately 45,000 pages are photocopied each year and placed in one of nine different types of books maintained in the office. Recorded instruments consist of approximately 150 different types of documents. The annual revenue collected by the office is approximately $3,500,000.00, with an average of 30,000 documents being recorded yearly.

The staff consists of nine full-time employees and the office hours are 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m., Monday through Friday.
