Blount County Animal Center
COVID-19 Changes to Blount County Animal Center Operations - Effective 3/23/2020
To adhere with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order 17, during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Blount County Animal Center will be modifying the services that we provide to the citizens and animals of Blount County and will be limiting access to the public to by appointment only. We are doing this to ensure that we can continue to provide quality services while following the recommendations of the CDC and state and local governments. It is important to us to continue to provide a safe and clean facility for the animals currently in our care and to be able to assist animals that are in emergency situations. Therefore, we are adjusting our services in the following manner:
1. Adoptions: One of our most important missions is to find safe and healthy homes for the animals in our care. We will continue to provide our adoption service, however it will be on a more limited schedule. This decreases the exposure to our employees, helping to ensure they will be available to assist in the care of our animals. Adoptions will by appointment only and at the following times on the following days;
a. 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Tuesday through Friday
b. 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday
Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Animal Center at (865) 980-6244
All of our animals available for adoption can be viewed on our web site at https://www.blounttn.org/168/Adoption-Information
2. Intake: We will be accepting animals in emergency situations only. Due to the reduced amount of adoptions and that our transport service has been suspended, we will have to reduce the number of animals that we accept at the Center.
