Mission Statement
The Blount County Highway Department is a professional and united team dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Blount County. We make every effort to maximize the efficient, effective use of our resources in the support, maintenance and upkeep of our county infrastructure. We are committed to the safety of our citizens and providing the highest level of service to the community that our budget allows.
The Blount County Highway Department will start paving Airbase Road on Monday August 8, weather permitting. The crews will start around 7:30am and stop around 3:30pm each day, Monday through Thursday. The project will start at the intersection of Airbase Road and State Route 129, Alcoa Highway. Likewise, the crews will pave one lane at a time with a work zone set up to allow traffic to pass. The anticipated duration is August 8th to August 19th, including pavement striping. We will provide daily updates on the status of the project.
Notice of Road Closure
TDOT is working on the Foothills Parkway and will close the road for repairs. Attached is an updated PDF of the Road Closure map regarding the paving project on Foothills Parkway near Flats Road. Mowing Season
It's that time of year again and our vegetation crews have started mowing all over the county. Please be cautious when approaching and watch for flagmen. We want everyone to be safe and have a great summer in our beautiful county.
Ready For Bad Weather
Blount County and the City of Maryville have partnered with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to embark on a planning process to result in the improvement of approximately 2.3 miles of Morganton Road from it’s intersection with Foothills Mall Drive to the intersection of William Blount Drive.
