Welcome to Summer Reading: Tails and Tales!

Spend this summer learning about the outdoors and nature! We have some fun ideas that also count toward your summer reading goals and count for prizes as well! They are listed below.  

For an extra entry, fill out a form about a library book you just read: either in-house or at the bottom of this webpage!

Every Saturday, we will have materials available for groups to take outside starting at 10:00 AM and ending at 5:00 PM.

Pick-Up Day - June 5th

First day to pick up your bag to start the Summer Reading Challenge.  Bubbles and chalk to play with outside.

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt - June 12th

Complete an outdoor scavenger hunt on the Greenway to win a pair of binoculars to decorate and take on your next adventure!

Best Buddy Sleep-Over - June 19th

Bring your own blanket and have a picnic with one of your stuffed animal friends! Leave them overnight to have a sleepover in the library, and then pick them up the following Monday!

Natural Art - June 26th

Take an art supply kit and use leaves, sticks, and other things you find outside to make original works of art.

Collaborative Chalk Mural - July 3rd

Come anytime you want to add your contribution to a chalk mural dedicated to our favorite animals on the concrete ground near the bridge.

Planting Pumpkins and Painting Rocks - July 10th

Plant a pumpkin seed to take home.  Paint a rock to add to your garden as decoration (or hide for someone else to find!)

How Many Worms? - June 5 - 11

Guess how many gummy worms are in the jar on the Children's Desk.  The closest guess wins the entire jar! You'll also be entered into the first weekly gift card drawing! (One entry per visit).

Indoor Scavenger Hunt - June 12 - 18

An indoor scavenger hunt to find animals hidden throughout the entire library.

Summer Reading 1

Rainforest Escape Room (Online) - June 19 - 25

Take a trip to Peru deep into the Amazon Rainforest.  While on the journey, you get separated from your group.  To get back to civilization and your travel group, you'll have to solve a series of puzzles and riddles. Click here to play!

Pet Tales - June 26 - July 2

Share a funny pet or animal story! Bring in pictures, or draw one, and write a funny short story.  Voting will be ongoing until July 10 for Cutest, Funniest, Fluffiest, Cuddliest, and Grumpiest Pet!

Animal Photography Showcase - July 3 - 9

Share your animal photos.  Can be pets or wild animals.  We'll build a photo wall to show the whole community!

Grand Prize Drawing - July 10

Grand prize! (one entry for each challenge booklet completed) is your choice of an Amazon Fire Tablet OR Design-Your-Own Vans!
